I found myself praying this last night....I thought y'all might have something to add. Go to it.
Dear God,
Please let the rest of this week be an unusual one. Let there be only joy at work, school, or home for my friends, family, and myself. Let the media report on only happiness in the world. For the next three days, let the hatred and pain go on vacation. Let there be no more reportable crimes such as violence, murders...no more domestic violence, no more homicide/suicides...no more crazy moms doing harm to their children, no more police officers being shot...no more robberies...no more terrorist attacks...no more troops or civilians being killed in Iraq/Afghanistan...no more mother nature claiming human lives...
You go...

Dear God,
Thank you so much for all that you have blessed me with in my life. Thank you for my wonderful family, and for the love and support that they give constantly. I also thank you for the trials you have placed before me, for I know that in the end, I will be stronger because of them.
I pray that you watch over my family and friends. I pray that they feel your presence in their lives, and that they feel your love and guidance. To certain individuals who shall not be named here (you know who they are), I ask that you give the strength to be compassionate and forgiving. Please allow their mental and spiritual 'wounds' to be healed completely, so that they may finally have peace, and so that they are able to live the life that you intend them to have.
Thank you for your unconditional love and mercy. We may not understand why there is so much pain and suffering in the world, and why some of the terrible things we hear about daily must happen. Sometimes, there seems to be no reason for it. Sometimes, the things we hear about are so awful that we can't even imagine how such a thing could be allowed to happen. Sometimes, there just seems to be no justice. But even so, I have confidence that everything has a purpose, even if it's not something that we, with our limited perspectives, can see.
I pray that you protect those who can not protect themselves. I pray that those who are lost and lonely find solace in you. I pray that those who are suffering and in pain be given the strength to continue moving steadily forward. I pray that those filled with bitterness and hate be moved with love and forgiveness. And for all of us, I pray that our hearts be filled with light, even in these times of darkness.
Thank you for all that you do, and for all that you have given us. I love you.
In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen.
